Explore the Life and Legacy of Prof. Jacob U'Mofe Gordon

It has been my pleasure to meet and work with Dr. Gordon in Gainesville, Florida. We met through his wife who is a Board member of the Cotton Club Museum and Cultural Center. I value and have been enlighten and informed about historical aspects of Africans and people of African descent. This level of sharing has been well received by our Board as well as our audience. Also in his role as president of the Alachua County African and UN Association he has provided a place for dialogue and mutual exploration of cultural norms for people of color for diverse audiences all over the city.

Dr. Jacob Gordon has been an invaluable mentor to me since the moment I arrived at the University of Florida. From the very beginning of my time here, he made a concerted effort to immerse me in both scholarly and community-engaged activities, ensuring that I felt supported and connected within the academic environment. His guidance has been instrumental in shaping my early career, offering thoughtful mentorship, encouragement, and practical advice as I navigated teaching, research, and service. Beyond his professional mentorship, Dr. Gordon is someone I look up to both as a friend and a mentor, someone whose integrity, generosity, and commitment to scholarship and community I hope to emulate throughout my own career. I am deeply grateful for his leadership, support, and unwavering investment in my growth as a scholar and educator.
